Earth Day 2022 Playlist

Vox Eclectica Women's+ Choir has been working together virtually since the start of the pandemic, rehearsing online and making recordings. Though based in Ottawa, our singers join us from throughout the Ottawa-Gatineau region, plus Mont-Tremblant QC, Halifax NS, Canmore AB, London ON, and Pittsburgh PA. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary as a choir.
In this playlist we offer a trio of Earth-focussed selections,
WORLD PREMIERE - Jack So Loved the Birds - A big big groove to go with some big big love to the Great Granddaddy of Canadian conservation, Jack Miner. Words and music by Elise Letourneau. Proceeds from this track go to support the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary near Kingsville ON.
WORLD PREMIERE - Amazonia - An SOS for the Amazon rainforest by Fauzya Moore. Fauzya is both a singer and a writer, loves travel, music, dance. Her wanderings around tropical rainforests showed her the incredible richness of life in them. They inspired her to write this song about the ongoing destruction of the forests of Amazonia. She is a member of the Vox Eclectica soprano section.
Nature Boy - The sumptuous jazz standard by Eden Ahbez, first recorded in 1948 by Nat King Cole, and subsequently covered by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, and so many more.
The singers are:
Tybe Brett, Claudia Broman, Laura Buckland, Sandra Clarke, Marjorie Cooper, Barb Emmons, Lauren Evans, Catherine Folkerson-Chen, Colleen Hyslop, Diane Jesmer, Nataliya Korolevych, Pam Ladouceur, Elise Letourneau, Hilary Lynd, Jane MacDonald, Karen MacKinnon, Bridget Maloney-Hall, Catherine McKenna, Fauzya Moore, Mary-Catherine Moore, Kim Newman, Alicia Owen, Bronwyn Rees, Sylvie Rimbach, Diane Ross, Sarah Snowdon, Jennifer Steeves, Becca Taylor, and Anna Torgerson
Arrangements are by Elise Letourneau, and she plays or programs all the instruments.
We'd be glad if you supported our choir with a download or two of our original selections, but if now isn't a good time, you can enjoy the music as much as you like right here! Nature Boy isn't ours to sell, but you can listen to it as many times as you like on this page.
Happy Earth Day everyone. Stay safe!
